Aussie Pie

Working in the South Boston I've often passed by KO Catering & Pies restaurant and wondered if I'd like their pies, well today the pull was just too much to resist. As someone who grew up in the North of England I do love a good pie but I am often dismayed at what passes as a 'pie' in New England. I'm looking at you restaurants that simply stuff a puff pastry on top of a Irish stew. A pie should have a base as well as a top, yum! Just add pies, sweetcorn and HP brown sauce and I was in heaven.

Taken with the Canon PowerShot SX230HS and eaten in 10 minutes. Happy Pie Day for tomorrow, 3/14!

Old Car Headlight Parked in the lot near where I work was this old Chevy truck was still going strong after all the years of hard labor I'm sure it's owner has put it through. I attempted a similar idea on my own automobile at the beginning of the year. Taken with the LG Optimus Elite, spot focus added effect added in post processing. Update 9/20: Adding a photo of the full frontal of the car for Timmy.

Sunburst Molly Today certainly was a day for indoor photography with 60mph wind gusts and none stop rains pounding the pavement I wasn't going to subject my camera equipment (or myself) to those elements. Instead I focused my Pentax K200d mounted to the Pentax DA 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 AL lens on the wildlife of our aquarium. With my Pentax K200d in macro mode using a tripod and on camera flash I set the sweet spot of focus on the bottom of the tank and waited for the fish to come in to frame. I certainly wish I had more patience to stand there longer, this still took over 20 frames before getting anywhere close to a fish in focus and framed decently. The on camera flash makes the shadow very contrasty here and the depth of field is very shallow - for instance the fish to the left of the frame was less than an inch closer to the lens but is completely out of focus. Perhaps a lesson on photographing fish is needed.
